Tazzari Zero electric car to hit European roads by end of 2009!

The production version of the Italian Tazzari Zero, which will look just like the rendered image you see above, will be made available to the European market by end of this year. The fully electric Tazzari Zero is powered by a 15kW asynchronous AC central mounted motor, driving the rear wheels with maximum torque of 150 Nm. Thanks to its light weight construction which is figured at 542 kilograms, the Zero can hit 50 km/h in just 5 seconds.

The Zero which features a 2 door design, measures 2884 mm in length, 1550 mm in width and 1400 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm and has a top speed of 80 km/h. With a total of 160 liters of luggage capacity, the Zero electric vehicle can deliver up to 140 kilometers over a full charge. What makes the Zero stand out among other electric vehicles in the market now, is that it has four driving modes; Race for performance driving with race like feel, Rain for driving in wet conditions, Standard for daily use and Economy to get the most mileage from a full charge.

Using Li-ion Fe batteries, it takes about 9 hours to fully charge the Zero, via a household power outlet. According to the Italian based manufacturer, the Tazzari Zero will carry a price tag which is slightly less than 20,000 Euros and will come with a number of standard, as well as optional features. Standard accessories include; 15 inch alloy wheels finished in Anthracite, electronic anti-theft device with remote control and immobilizer, radio stereo RDS with mp3 and CD player, removable venting ultra view sunroof, eco-leather seats, LED tail lights, standard battery charger for 9 hours charge time and a 12V outlet for phone recharge.

Optional features on the other hand include; white or black paint finish for the wheels and either a Multifast battery charger or a Superfast battery charger. The Multifast charger can fully recharge the Zero in 6 hours while the Superfast charger can recharge the two seater up to 80% in just 50 minutes.
