SAIC confirms MG 6′s 2010 production in the UK
China’s SAIC has confirmed that the production of the MG 6 will kick start later this year in the UK before sales initiate by the first quarter of next year. The MG 6 will be manufactured in the Longbridge plant in Birmingham which has a production capacity of 10,000 units a year.
SAIC is China’s biggest automaker and merged with Nanjing Automobile Group in late 2007 which owned the Longbridge plant. Nanjing also acquired MG Rover in 2005. SAIC also revealed that it plans to build and market a right-hand-drive version of the Roewe 350 hatchback in the UK.
MG to launch an entry-level TF Roadster: With expected price!
MG UK has revealed that it will launch a more affordable MG TF Roadster by summer this year. With a price tag that will hover over the £13,500 figure, the new TF will be powered by an updated version of the 135HP 1.8-litre 16v K-series engine.
Not only that, there will also be a special edition TF Roadster to commemorate the brand’s 85th anniversary. With a price tag of £15,750, this special version will feature an up-rated suspension as well as new wheels and a reworked interior. In another development, the newly launched MG6 sedan and hatchback models are expected to arrive in the UK next summer.
MG MG6 hatchback unveiled in Shanghai
SAIC-owned MG has revealed the MG6 hatchback at the Auto Shanghai 2009. The new hatchback which is based on the Roewe 550 is expected to go on sale in the U.K by 2010 and is expected to be powered by a 1.8 liter turbo motivator. SAIC is also rumored to be working on a smaller MG5 as well as an updated MG-TF roadster which will mark MG’s 85th anniversary. Continue reading to view another image of the MG6. MG Rover MG6 Concept to be previewed in Shanghai
Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC)-owned auto brand, MG Rover will preview the MG6 Concept at the upcoming auto show in Shanghai, China. The 5-door lift-back which is based on the Roewe 550 is powered by a 1.8 turbocharged 4 cylinder petrol unit, which is also found in the 550.
