New luxury crossover by Lincoln – The 2010 Lincoln MKT!

Based on the same D4 platform which is utilized on the Ford Flex, the new 2010 Lincoln MKT with three row seating arrangement was launched at the Detroit Auto Show, along side the new Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKZ.

The Lincoln MKT which is marketed as a full size luxury crossover offers a choice of two V6 engines including a 268HP with 267 lb.-ft. of torque 3.7 liter Duratec engine with a two-speed fuel pump and Aggressive Deceleration Fuel Shut-Off (ADFSO), and a 3.5 liter twin turbo EcoBoost with direct injection which is good for 355HP and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both power plants are mated to a 6 speed SelectShift automatic transmission which can be operated via manual or fully automatic controls. A set of paddle shifters equipped with a “matched-rev” downshift feature is also mounted at the back of the steering wheel.

Other key technologies offered as standard in the MKT include; Active Park Assist which provides automatic parallel parking (driver only needs to perform throttle and braking inputs), Auto High Beams coupled with Adaptive Headlamps, Reverse Camera System, Collision Warning with Brake Support, and the Lincoln SYNC which is a voice over communications system developed by Ford and Microsoft.

Other optional accessories include Rain-Sensing Wipers, a Blind Spot Information System and a touch screen Navigation package, among others. The 6/7-seater MKT with a 60/40 split folding rear bench seat also can be purchased with an AWD system which is standard for the 3.5 liter variant. With a 24 mpg highway consumption figure (for the 3.7 liter model), the new 2010 Lincoln MKT will hit American showrooms in late summer.

Lincoln’s C Concept unveiled at Detroit 2009!

What you see above is a new luxury C segment concept by Lincoln called the C Concept. This concept aims to be a small, fuel efficient vehicle that can zip through traffic while providing its driver and occupants with levels of luxury and comfort which are usually reserved for larger sedans.

From its sleek, curvaceous interior with all white colour palette to its wide stance and fresh exterior, it definitely looks the part. Power is provided by a 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine which is capable of producing 180HP and 180 ft. lb. of torque. This turbocharged power plant with direct injection is mated to a dual clutch PowerShift 6 speed transmission with dry clutch which enables the C Concept to achieve 43 mpg.

The four door concept also features Ford’s Human Machine Interface or HMI and other in car infotainment accessories such as internet connectivity and even an instrument panel which can display various personalized graphics and themes depending on the driver’s personality.
