Kawasaki to continue racing in MotoGP?

Referring to our previous report regarding Kawasaki’s intention to quit the pinnacle of bike racing; MotoGP, words are now being exchanged within the paddock regarding the Japanese team’s plans to continue racing in MotoGP.
Apparently, the company which holds the rights to MotoGP; Dorna, has revealed that the Green team is contractually obligated to remain in the sport till 2011 or else Dorna will seek for financial compensation from Kawasaki. The first MotoGP event of this season is in Qatar on April 12th. Hopefully by 2011, Kawasaki will re-think its decision about leaving the sport.
Kawasaki to part from Moto GP?

Rumors are circulating that Japanese based Kawasaki intends to quit Moto GP. If this happens, Kawasaki would be the fourth Japanese based factory team to part ways from a major motor sport league. Recently Subaru and Suzuki retired from the WRC campaign, leaving no other Japanese team in the series for this year’s season. Honda also stepped out of Formula 1, leaving only Toyota (which recently reiterated its commitment to the sport) in the championship.
Autosport revealed that Kawasaki will announce its 2009 plans on January 5th, coming Monday. If they decide to quit, do expect “economic crisis” to be part of the reason. Kawasaki rejoined Moto GP in 2003 and has yet to score a single victory through out its 5 years stint.
