Paris 2010 – Jaguar premiers the C-X75 concept

The Leaping Cat has unveiled an all-new concept at the Paris Motor Show. Called the C-X75, it could lead to the production of Jaguar’s latest supercar. The concept, which reminds me of the sleek XJ220, makes use of four electric motors which can propel it t to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds, and up to a top speed of over 300km/h.

The company also said that it can touch the 300km/h mark in just 15.7 seconds, now that is super quick! The thing is, those four electric motors are also complemented by two small turbine engines that can run on either natural gas, biofuel, diesel or LPG. However these two engines act like range-extenders, to take over the job when power in the batteries that power the electric motors run out, which means after 68 miles.

Overall, with a full charge and a full tank, the supercar concept will take you 560 miles. You can check out more images after the jump.

UPDATE: We have also added three official videos of the Jag.

Jaguar to race the XKR GT2 at this year’s Le Mans

Jaguar has announced that it will make a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the XKR GT2. This is part of 75-year anniversary of the Leaping Cat’s involvement in motor racing. The race car will be run by JaguarRSR and it shares many basic components with the road version, meaning things like the road car’s lightweight aluminium body structure and its 5.0-litre supercharged AJ133 V8 are maintained.

The engine will be re-tuned to offer more horsepower, in excess of 500. The XKR GT2 will carry number 81 and will be piloted by Marc Goossens, Ryan Dalziel and Paul Gentilozzi. The last time Jaguar enjoyed a victory at Le Mans was in 1990 with an XJR-12 raced by John Nielsen, Price Cobb and current BBC F1 commentator Martin Brundle.

The British brand dominated the event in the 50s with the iconic C-type and D-type racers. The 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans will be held on June 12th.

Jaguar Land Rover along with Tata Motors record profit for year ending March 2010

Tata Motors has announced that it has achieved a consolidated net income totaled at 25.7 billion rupees (US$543 million) in the financial year ending March 2010. This is in contrast to a loss of 25.1 billion rupees the same time last year. Jaguar Land Rover which belongs under Tata’s ownership also ended its financial year in the black with a pre-tax profit of 32 million pounds (US$46 million).

This was encouraged by improved sales thanks to the introduction of new models, the overall improvement in the economy and the reduction of its expenses. Jaguar Land Rover had let go about 2,200 workers.

Indian-based Tata took over Jaguar Land Rover from Ford in 2008 for US$2.5 billion. In that year JLR sold 193,982 vehicles and sales dropped in the next 10 months with 167,348 units sold. It was also said that Tata’s earnings were inflated by a foreign exchange gain of 844.7 million rupees.

Body colour options include Ultimate Black, Polaris White and Salsa Red. The wheels will be replaced by 20-inch gloss black Kalimnos alloys.

Jaguar XF: Additions to the 2010 range

Good news for XF fans! Jaguar has announced that they will cut back the price of its XF 3.0 litre petrol engine to £29 900 in the UK. Mind you the drop in price is about £100 which buys you next to nothing in the Jaguar options list, but good on them for bringing their prices down.

If you’ve been living under a rock, the XF is the latest masterpiece by Jaguar and has been collecting awards since its first outing in 2008. Not to mention the BMW M5 rivalling XFR, which is known to be an altogether better car, plus its a few thousand pounds cheaper.
