General Motors and China’s Sichuan Tengzhong enter into a definitive agreement over the sale of Hummer

American-based auto maker General Motors has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with China’s Sichuan Tengzhong over the sale of Hummer. The definitive agreement indicates that a sale is inevitable. The Chinese company will take over Hummer via an investment company, which it would have an 80% stake in. The remaining 20% would be held by Suolang Duoji, a Hong Kong-based private entrepreneur.
Under the terms of the final agreement, Sichuan Tengzhong will own the Hummer brand, trademark and tradenames, as well as other specific IP license rights necessary for producing Hummer vehicles.
Furthermore, the Chinese company will also get manufacturing, key components and business services from the American seller during a transitional time period. During the period, General Motors’ Shreveport plant, will for example, continue to contract assemble the H3 and H3T models while AM General’s Mishawaka assembly plant will continue to assemble the H2, both until June 2011. Sichuan Tengzhong would also have the option to extend the contract until June 2012.
Once its a done deal, Hummer would become the first automaker to feature alternative fuel powertrains in every model. The auto brand is also in the midst of obtaining emissions certification for a diesel H3 that will be sold in markets outside of North America.

423HP Supercharged Hummer H3!

German based auto tuning specialist, Geiger Cars has launched a supercharged version of the Hummer H3. The tuning is based on the H3 V8 and modifications performed has increased output of the 5.3 liter V8 from 300HP to 423HP and twisting power from 434Nm of torque to a mind blowing 680Nm of torque.
This enables the mid size SUV to propel to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds to a top speed of 238 km/h. Isn’t that scary for a vehicle which stands as high as 1,872 mm? Braking power is upgraded with a new six piston setup and handling is refined with a new suspension package and 22-inch alloys.
The tuner has also added a body kit to complement the extra power, with a colour scheme which looks a lot like Martini’s sponsorship liveries. The interior is dressed up with carbon fiber.
