COE premiums mostly increased

COE premiums for all categories closed higher following December’s first bidding exercise. Premiums for Category A (Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) jumped by 7.6% to close at S$18,502 meanwhile Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) settled at S$19,003. Premiums for Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) rested at S$18,289 and COE for two-wheelers remained unchanged at S$854. Finally premiums for the open category made a slight increase to S$18,509, up by 1.3%.


COE premiums drop across the board

COE premiums for all categories have dropped across the board for November’s first bidding exercise. Premiums for Category A (Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) dropped the most to settle at S$16,747, from S$18,899 which marked a 11.4% reduction. Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) dropped by 5.7% to S$18,389. Premiums for Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) rested at S$16,989 down from S$18,110.

Category D (motorbikes) dropped to S$902 from last round’s S$931. Last but not least, premiums for the open category marginally dropped by S$901 to settle at S$19,000.


COE results for October’s second bidding exercise

The second bidding exercise for the month of October ended yesterday and the results were mixed. Premiums for Category A (Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) increased to S$18,899 (up by 16.6%) which is the highest it has been this year.

Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) also increased, but by 7.7% to settle at S$19,510. Premiums for Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) which hit its highest point in seven years during the previous bidding round dropped to S$18,110 marking a 16.5% drop. Meanwhile, Category D (motorbikes) jumped by 3.2% to rest at S$931. Last but not least, premiums for the open category or Category E dropped to S$19,901.


COE premiums mostly closed high, Category C soared

Premiums for all COE categories closed higher, except for Category B. Premiums for Category A (Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) increased by 3.9% to settle at S$16,201 while Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) on the other hand reduced to S$18,109, marking an 8.5% drop. Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) marked the highest increase. Premiums rose by up to 50% to rest at S$21,692.

This marked a seven year high and it is mostly due to the recent cut in COE quota. Meanwhile, Category D (motorbikes) slightly increased from S$900 to S$902. Last but not least, premiums for Category E (Open category) jumped to S$21,301, thanks to a 5.5% increase.


COE: mixed results for September’s 2nd round, Gov cuts quota by 15.7%

Wednesday marked the second COE bidding round for the month of September and the results were mixed. Premiums for Category A (Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) dropped by 13.5% to settle at S$15,589 while premiums for Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) increased by a mere 2.6% to rest at S$19,801.

Premiums for Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) made a 6.2% drop, ending at S$15,000. Meanwhile, Category D (motorbikes) also dropped from S$1,051 to S$ 900. Last but not least, premiums for Category E (Open Category) increased by 1.8%, pushing premiums to settle at S$20,200, compared to last round’s S$19,830. The government also announced that it has cut the supply of COEs by 15.7%, for the next six months.


All COE categories closed high, except for Category C

Four out of five COE categories closed higher after September’s first bidding exercise. More importantly, premiums for small cars (Category A, Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) made the biggest jump. A 20% hike brought the premiums up to S$18,020, making it the highest in four years. It is believed that the huge jump was due to the changes made to the off-peak car scheme (OPC).

Premiums for Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) increased by 18.4% to settle at S$19,289, while premiums for Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) dropped by 8.6% to rest at S$16,001. COE premiums for motorbikes also made a huge increase, by 19% to be specific, that brought premiums up to the S$1,051 figure. Last but not least, Category E (Open category) ended also increased from S$17,905 to S$19,830.


Only one COE category traveled north

Yesterday marked the second COE bidding round for the month of August 2009, and unlike previous trends, only one COE category ended the session with higher premiums. Premiums for small cars (Category A, Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) increased by 9.9%, to rest at S$15,019. Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) dropped from S$18,890 to S$16,290 while premiums for Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) dropped from S$18,801 to settle at S$17,501.

The two wheeler category made a marginal decrease by S$20, to end at S$882. Last but not least, Category E (Open category) ended the session at S$17,905, down from the previous session’s S$19,629.
