Chevrolet Cruze hatchback – initial images released!

Looks like the rumors were true after all! General Motors has just released initial images of the Cruze hatchback, ahead of it’s official debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. However General Motors is calling the hatchback a show car, indicating that it is not the final production model. Nevertheless the vehicle looks pretty much production ready, hence the final product shouldn’t look much different. I must admit that this show car looks rather pleasing, except for the blue-ish headlights.

The company said that the hatchback uses body-frame integral system or BFI that “results in high levels of stability and solidity”, according to General Motors that is. It also said that the cargo capacity is figured at 400 liters and it features a 60/40 rear seat split. The production 5-door Cruze is expected to go on sale in Europe by mid 2011.

GM likely to unveil Cruze hatchback in Paris

A report by Australia’s GoAuto suggests that General Motors will introduce a hatchback variant of the Cruze at this month’s Paris Motor Show. Apparently the 5-door Cruze is designed in Australia and it could be produced at the GM Holden factory in Adelaide as a right-hand-drive model.

Just like the sedan variant, the hatch is also likely to be sold as a global model in various regions. Details are very scarce at this point but we will bring you more info soon. General Motors will also unveil the new Aveo and Orlando models at the motor show.

Paris-bound Chevrolet Orlando MPV unveiled

Chevrolet has released initial images and details of the Orlando MPV ahead of it’s world premiere at next month’s Paris Motor Show. The vehicle is based on the 2008 Orlando Concept but it is very much a toned down version of it. In my honest opinion, the 7-seater MPV doesn’t look all that interesting at all, which is weird considering Chevrolet’s recent products, that look pretty good.

However Chevrolet promises that the interior will draw positive attention as it has a Corvette-inspired dual cockpit and ambient blue backlighting. The interior also features second and third row seats with higher seating positions (to improve visibility for the occupants) as well as loads of storage compartments in areas including behind the audio head unit and more.

The Orlando which is based on the Cruze’s platform is available with one petrol engine and a choice of two diesel units. The petrol engine is a 141hp 1.8 liter unit while the diesel family is made up by a 131hp version and a 163hp version of a 2.0 liter diesel. The Orlando is strictly for the European market, for now at least and in the UK, there will be four trim options when the MPV goes on sale early next year.

Among others, the Orlando also features electronic stability control, up to six airbags as well as electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors. Production of the Chevrolet Orlando will start in October. You can find high-res versions of the images above after the jump.

UK to get RHD Chevrolet Camaro next year

UK’s Bumblebee fans, here is something you’ve been waiting for. Chevrolet has officially confirmed that right hand drive Camaros will be made available in the UK by next year, most likely within the first six months. A sample of the Camaro will be presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which is happening right now and the car is treated to the Transformers kit (pictured above).

The company said that the Camaro will be launched with a 6.2 liter V8 powerplant which can produce 426hp and allow the good looking vehicle to hit 100km/h in less than five seconds and offer a top speed of 249km/h. Full specifications will only be released closer to the launch date.

Chevrolet teases the 2011 Camaro Convertible!

Camaro fans here you go! Chevrolet has released official teaser images that belong to the topless Camaro. The images were shown on Facebook and they reveal the front and rear ends of the car.

Compared to the coupe this Sun-friendly model has a repositioned third brake light, a trunk mounted radio antenna as well as a key slot for the trunk. The Camaro Convertible is expected to be motivated by the same 312hp 3.6 liter V6 as well as by a 400hp and a 426hp 6.2 liter V8 found in the coupe. It is expected to hit the market by early 2011.

A new Chevrolet previewed via patent filings: Is this the 2012 Malibu?

Above is an image that was submitted to the US patent office. Unfortunately we only know that it is a Chevrolet with four doors. It can either be a mid or a full-sized sedan and reports worldwide are suggesting that it could possibly be the 2012 Malibu since it is about time for a new version to show up.

However it could be something else all together. It looks pretty sharp based on the image above and I can’t wait to look at the final product. An image that shows us the rear end reveals Camaro-inspired taillights. Please click on the source link below to view more images.
