LA 2010 – 2011 Camaro Convertible live pictures

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible made its public debut at the stands of the 2010 Los Angeles Motor Show. Just like the coupe, the convertible Camaro uses the 3.6 liter V6 which is good for 312hp. If that is not enough for you, there is the SS variant which is powered by a larger 6.2 liter V8 which can crank out 426hp when linked to a manual transmission.

With a 6-speed automatic however, the engine’s horsepower goes down to 400hp. It features a fabric soft top that retracts in abut 20 seconds. Production starts in January before going on sale in February. The Camaro Convertible will carry a base price of US$30,000.

Unfortunately Chevrolet has not released official images other than the ones that were released via Facebook earlier. Luckily we have some live pictures to share with you. Check them out after the jump!

Paris 2010 – All new Chevrolet Aveo live images

The new Chevrolet Aveo has graced the 2010 Paris Motor Show, ahead of its European market introduction in the summer of 2011. The 5-door hatch is inspired by the Aveo RS show car, but there is nothing to shout about in regards to the car’s looks.

Unfortunately Chevrolet has yet to release juicier information about the Aveo, and only said that it is both longer and wider than the outgoing model. The company also confirmed that the hatch will be launched with a variety of engines, including ones with VVT (double continuous variable cam phasing) and common rail direct fuel injection system for the diesels.

It will also be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission along with both 5 and 6-speed manual units. Other features include ABS, Electronic power steering (EPS) and Electronic stability control (ESC), all standard.

Paris 2010 – Chevy Cruze hatchback live images

Chevrolet has presented the hatchback version of the popular Cruze in the city of love. The new global variant will join the sedan model mid next year and it will feature a body-frame integral system, up to 400 liters of trunk space and a 60/40 spilt for the rear seats.

Shown in Paris is what Chevrolet calls a show car, but the final production shouldn’t run far off. Details are still scarce but you can safely expect the hatchback to be offered with the same drivetrain options found in the sedan model. You can check out some live images after the jump.

Electric Chevy Cruze to start fleet test in October

General Motors has announced that the all-electric Chevrolet Cruze will start it’s demo fleet test by the end of next month in South Korea. The emissions-free vehicle houses a 201hp electric motor which can bring the Cruze up to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds and to a top speed of 165km/h.

The vehicle is also able to return 160 kilometers over a single charge. It’s 31-kWh battery pack (mounted on the underbody giving space in the trunk) can be recharged via a conventional 220-volt outlet household power outlet and a full recharge would take about 9 hours. There is also a quick charge option but we don’t have the official charge time at this point.

This project which also involves the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere also has GM Daewoo, LG Chem and LG Electronics behind it. “This Cruze EV demonstration project reinforces GM’s commitment to being a leader in the development of electric vehicles and green technologies, building on our portfolio of hybrids and the Chevrolet Volt,” said Karl Stracke, Vice President, GM Global Vehicle Engineering.

“We’ll apply the learnings from this and our other demo projects to help us deliver the world’s best vehicles for our customers,” he added. Continue reading to check out high-res images.

Interior of new Orlando, Aveo, Cruze hatchback and Captiva revealed!

Our friends at Carscoop have managed to get hold of some photos that depict the interior of Chevrolet’s new models. These Paris-bound models include the new Orlando MPV, the new Aveo hatchback, the Cruze hatchback show car as well as the facelifted Captiva.

These slightly low-res photos were not released by General Motors and it looks like they are snapshots that belong to some yet-to-be released promo videos. Pictured above is the interior of the Orlando MPV which looks pretty good if you ask me. The centre part of the dash where a set of controls are placed can be lifted up to make way for a compartment that can house your iPod.

Next up is the Aveo‘s interior, which unlike it’s exterior, looks very nice. The first thing that catches your eyes is the instrument cluster that is made by one large tachometer and an LCD screen that displays the vehicle’s traveling speed and other relevant information.

Lets turn our attention to the interior of the Cruze hatchback. As you can see, it’s pretty much the same interior as the sedan that we are used to. This model is being considered as a show car hence it’s probably 99% the final production model. With that said, this 5-door Cruze could be treated to different trim design and probably different treatment for the seats, something that is not available in the market at this point.

The interior of the facelifted Captiva looks pretty much unchanged but there is a new audio unit with aux-in, USB as well as Bluetooth connectivities. There is also an electric parking brake that replaces the conventional handbrake. This makes room for two cup holders. General Motors also said that the refreshed Captiva benefits from new trim and seat fabrics. Continue reading to view more images.

Chevrolet reveals the 2011 Captiva ahead of Paris debut

General Motors-owned Chevrolet has unveiled the Captiva facelift ahead of it’s debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month. Lets go over the changes and updates. The most noticeable change is the new front fascia featuring a new hood and a larger grille. There are also the prism-styled headlights as well as integrated LED indicators mounted on the rearview mirrors.

The interior sports new finishes and textures including new seat fabrics and interior decor appointments. There is also ice-blue back lighting and a wrap-around interior. Updates have also been carried out under the hood. The refreshed Captiva comes with no less than three new engines including a 171hp 2.4 liter petrol and two versions of a 2.2 liter turbo-diesel. They are made up by a 163hp and a 184hp variant.

Chevrolet also says that the Captiva’s chassis has been retuned to “enhance vehicle dynamics, improving cornering, roll characteristics and ride feel”. Safety features that are standard include ESP with traction control as well as Braking Assist System (BAS).

The 2011 Captiva also has an electric parking brake and Hill Start Assist that helps prevent roll back. The electric brake which saves space in the centre console makes room for two 1-liter cup holders. Engineers also worked their magic in the acoustics department with reduced road, wind and engine noise. The audio system is fitted with aux-in, a USB-port and Bluetooth connectivity. The updated Captiva can also be ordered with touch-screen navigation system along with a rear view camera.

The 2011 Chevrolet Captiva is slated to go on sale in Europe by spring next year. Continue reading to view high-res versions of the images above. The SUV will join the new Aveo, the Cruze hatchback show car as well as the Orlando MPV at the motor event.
