A new Chevrolet previewed via patent filings: Is this the 2012 Malibu?

Above is an image that was submitted to the US patent office. Unfortunately we only know that it is a Chevrolet with four doors. It can either be a mid or a full-sized sedan and reports worldwide are suggesting that it could possibly be the 2012 Malibu since it is about time for a new version to show up.
However it could be something else all together. It looks pretty sharp based on the image above and I can’t wait to look at the final product. An image that shows us the rear end reveals Camaro-inspired taillights. Please click on the source link below to view more images.
Chevrolet releases 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition

Chevrolet has announced an all new 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition which bridges the gap between a production Corvette and a track version. The Carbon Limited Edition marks the 50th anniversary of the brand’s first race in the 24 Hours of LeMans.
This new variant which is based on a 500-unit production run features Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with specific dark gray metallic calipers, black 20-spoke 19-inch wheels (20-inch for the rear) shod with Michelin PS2 tires, a special carbon pattern engine cover, optimized cooling as well as for the first time on the Z06, a Magnetic Selective Ride Control system.
It also has black headlamps and mirrors, a ZR1-style spoiler, carbon fiber hood, side sills, and front splitter along with two body colour options including Inferno Orange or Supersonic Blue. Interior wise the Z06 Carbon Limited Edition comes with ebony leather and suede upholstery, a special steering wheel emblem, special sill plates plus embroidered headrests.

Chevrolet Singapore reveals the SS package for the Cruze

Chevrolet’s Singapore division has launched a sporty package for the Cruze compact sedan. The package which is called the SS is made up by front, rear, left and right skirting, a rear spoiler, 17-inch wheels with Falken rubber as well as illuminated scuff plates. The package costs S$4,980 and can be seen at the Chevrolet Center in Ubi Road.
The Chevrolet Cruze goes for S$57,388 and that will get you the 1.6 model with 107 PS and a 5-speed manual. The top of the line spot is taken up by the 139 PS 1.8 model with a 6-speed automatic. Continue reading to view two images in high-res fashion. Read the rest of this entry.
Chevrolet Aveo RS Show Car to be showcased in Detroit, previews next-gen Aveo

Along with the Buick Regal GS, General Motors will also showcase the Chevrolet Aveo RS Show Car at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show which is just around the corner. This show car is quite an important vehicle because it previews the next generation production Aveo. The Aveo RS is slightly larger than the current Aveo and is powered by 138hp 1.4 liter Ecotec turbocharged engine mated to a 6-speed manual tranny. India’s first 4-door passenger EV: Chevrolet e-Spark

This is the all electric Chevrolet e-Spark that was revealed at the 2010 New Delhi Motor Show. The e-Spark will become India’s first 4-door passenger electric vehicle when it is launched at the end of the year. The e-Spark is a local project and GM India has collaborated with Indian-based Reva Electric Car Company to come up with it. The EV will be powered by a RECC powertrain that will allow its drivers to choose between Regular and Boost modes, with the latter offering a more spirited drive.
The company also confirmed that the e-Spark will be fitted with the Driver Display System that will provide all necessary and vital signals on the dashboard. Chevrolet Beat launched in India ahead of Delhi Motor Show

General Motors has officially launched the Beat compact car in India ahead of the Delhi Motor Show. The Beat which has not been launched in Europe or in North America was also a familiar character in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, in concept form that is. The Indian market model gets a 1.2 liter S-TEC II DOHC powerplant that is good for 79hp and 108Nm of torque. The engine can also deliver 18.6 kilometers with a liter of fuel.
The engine also features something called PDA (Port De-Activation) that ensures high exhaust gas recirculation for combustion stability at low speeds, improved fuel efficiency as well as reduced emissions. It is paired with a 5-speed manual while an automatic transmission and a diesel-fueled engine is coming soon.
The range topping LT trim level comes standard with features such as climate control, integrated audio with USB and AUX-in, steering column mounted LED back-lit speedo and LCD digital rev counter and roof rails while buyers will have to part with more money to get two airbags, ABS and EBD.
General Motors claims that the Beat’s body is the stiffest and toughest in its class and as it has 66.5% high-strength steel and more than 16% ultra-high-strength steel. Three trim levels are available including the base PS, LS and the above mentioned LT. Prices range between Rs 3.34 lakh for the PS and Rs 3.94 lakh for the LT.

2011 Chevrolet Cruze for the US market unveiled

General Motors has officially unveiled the US-spec 2011 Cruze that will also make its first American public debut at this week’s Los Angeles Auto Show. However if you are waiting to drive home the Cruze, you will have to wait for about 9 months. In the US the Cruze is offered with two engine options, both from the 4-cylinder family and feature full variable valve timing. First of which is a turbocharged Ecotec 1.4 liter that outputs an estimated 138hp and 200Nm of torque (148 lb.-ft.). The automaker claims that the powerplant’s fuel efficiency enables a cruising range of more than 800 kilometers (500 miles).
The other engine is an Ecotec 1.8 liter that is normally-aspirated. Unfortunately the automaker did not reveal power figures for this engine. Potential buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. There are three trim levels to choose from including LS, LT and LTZ.

As standard, the compact sedan comes with 10 standard air bags (frontal, side-impact, roof rail head curtain, rear seat side air bags and new knee air bags), electronic stability control with rollover sensing, ABS, Bluetooth, USB connectivity and navigation system, XM Satellite Radio and OnStar as well as electric power steering.
There is also an audio system that includes MP3 playback capability, six speakers and an auxiliary jack. 16-, 17- and 18-inch wheels are available as well. The Chevrolet Cruze for both the US and Canadian markets will be assembled in Lordstown, Ohio. Pricing information should be revealed sometime this week but General Motors confirmed that the Cruze is backed by a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Chevrolet Cruze to make US debut in Los Angeles

General Motors has announced that the Chevrolet Cruze will be making its US debut at the upcoming motor show in Los Angeles happening on December 2nd. Yes, the Cruze is currently not available in the US, but is already available in the other markets like Europe and China as well as in Australia and in South Korea. In fact, the Cruze was recently launched in Singapore too. Interested buyers in the US will have to wait till the third quarter of next year for the Cruze’s market launch.
