BMW to supply 3.0 liter diesel engines to Carbon Motors for the E7 police car

The world’s first manufacturer of a purpose-built law enforcement vehicle, Carbon Motors will use a BMW-sourced 3.0 liter 6-cylinder diesel to power the E7 police car which is expected to be launched in 2012. BMW will supply up to 240,000 diesel engines to Carbon Motors complete with cooling and exhaust gas systems as well as with automatic transmissions. This 3.0 liter oil burner is also used in the BMW X5 and is able to produce 265hp.
10,000 orders for Carbon Motors’ purpose built E7 police car

American based Carbon Motors, manufacturer of the Carbon E7 police car, has received up to 10,000 orders for the purpose built law enforcement vehicle. Considered as the world’s first purpose built police car, the E7 is powered by a 300HP 3.0-litre turbo diesel powerplant, that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The E7 is able to do 155 mph and comes with features specially made for our men and women in law enforcement, including night vision cameras, backseat video, audio surveillance, license plate recognition system, radiation detector and more.
