World’s first production plug-in hybrid crossover – the E6 by Chinese auto maker; BYD!
China based BYD, which stands for “build your dreams” unveiled the E6 at the Detroit Motor Show, which is the world’s first production dual mode plug in hybrid crossover. Well that’s a mouth full, anyway lets get on with the details. This five passenger E6 is a pure electric vehicle which is expected hit European and American markets by 2011.
The E6 which measures 179.3 inches long, 71.7 inches wide and 64.2 inches tall features BYD’s own battery technology called the ‘Fe’ battery which can deliver up to 400 kilometers in terms of driving range on a full charge.
The Chinese auto maker also revealed that the E6 can sprint to 100 km/h in about 8 seconds to a top speed of 160 km/h with 268HP and 550Nm of torque under the hood. The E6 can be 100% charged in just 1 hour via a household electric power socket.
