475hp Ariel Atom V8 – initial images and details!

As reported earlier, Ariel is set to introduce a new V8 variant of the Atom track demon. The Atom V8 is powered by a 3.0 liter Hartley V8 which was actually developed from two Suzuki motorcycle engines. It produces 475hp in standard trim but if that isn’t enough for you, there is a 500hp race version too.

With 500hp, the Ariel Atom offers an incredible power-to-weight ratio of 909hp per tonne. The Ariel V8 is offered with a 6-speed sequential Sadev transmission, Intrax dampers, a revised double-wishbone suspension as well as Alcon brakes that hide behind wheels that are fitted with X-rated Toyo tires.

The Ariel Atom V8 is expected to go sale next year with an estimated price tag of £150,000. Did I mention that only 25 units will make it through production? The Ariel Atom is officially sold in Singapore and it is available from Atomic Racing. An image gallery is available after the jump.

Ariel Atom 500′s new 500HP V8

The Ariel Atom 500 was launched early last year with a 2.4 liter supercharged V8, and now, the Atom 500 gets a new 3.0 liter V8 motivator that is good for 500HP! The new engine is paired with a 6-speed sequential transmission, and that steering mounted paddle shifters are rumored to be offered as well.

The new engine that weighs less than 90 kilograms can help propel the Atom 500 to 100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds which is out of this world! To accommodate the new V8, Ariel has up-rated the suspension and offers the new Atom with lightweight magnesium alloys and more high-spec fittings.

Unfortunately, Ariel claims that only 25 units will ever produced and that production will begin sometime mid next year. The ‘crazy’ car maker has yet to reveal the official pricing, but expect to part with about £115,000.

Ariel Atom: Now in Singapore!

The record breaking, face distorting Ariel Atom is now available in Singapore. Local motor sport company; Atomic Racing has been appointed as the first dealer to market and sell the roof-less British made sports car in Singapore as well as in Malaysia.
