Nissan Land Glider Concept to be previewed in Tokyo

Nissan has announced that it will present the Land Glider Concept at this month’s motor event in Tokyo, Japan. The 4-wheeled motorcycle cum car Land Glider Concept is powered by an all electric drivetrain that is made up by a two electric motors positioned at the back.
The auto maker also revealed that the lithium-ion battery pack can be charged whilst shopping at a supermarket or stopping at a motorway service station. The system enables vehicles to be charged wirelessly at locations where the infrastructure exists. The 2-seater concept has a unique ‘tilt’ setup that employs a special leaning function that holds occupants firmly in place even when the vehicle is cornering at angles.
Like a motorcycle, its tires can lean by up to 17 degrees. The Land Glider employs sensors for vehicle speed, steering angle and yaw rate to instantly calculate the level of lean required to negotiate a corner. All the driver must do is turn and the cabin will lean accordingly. It also features steering-by-wire and a crash avoidance system in which sensors mounted in the body detect other vehicles in the same way as fish swim in schools without colliding.
