US-spec Volkswagen Golf GTI MkVI: 7HP less than European version

Apart from releasing details of the US-spec Volkswagen Golf, the German-based auto maker also announced details of the US-bound high-performance GTI variant. The most interesting of all, is the fact that the 2.0 liter TSI powerplant outputs 200HP, instead of 207HP in the European version.

Torque is maintained at 280Nm. Just like the European market, the GTI in the US is offered with either a 6 speed manual transmission or the auto maker’s 6 speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). The GTI is available in both 3-door and 5-door forms in the US and prices range between US$ 23,290 and US$ 24,990. Continue reading to view a specifications list for the US market.
