Frankfurt 2009: 2CV-inspired Citroen REVOLTe Hybrid Concept

French auto maker Citroen has finally revealed its latest concept, called the REVOLTe, which is inspired by the classic Citroen 2CV. The concept measures 3.68 meters long, 1.73 meters wide and 1.35 meters high and features a re-chargeable hybrid powertrain that is made up by a small-capacity conventional combustion engine and an electric motor. The concept can also run on pure EV mode. According to the auto maker, the “REVOLTe reflects the changing role of small cars with style and elegance becoming as important as economy and practicality.”
You may wonder how the 2CV has inspired the REVOLTe. Well, basically, the concept is a total opposite of the 2CV, in every area. What the 2CV lacked, the REVOLTe has, meaning its something like a reversed- inspiration. The REVOLTEe concept with rear-hinged doors, features a multi-coloured cabin, with woven black leather, thick crimson velvet and gleaming aluminium. It has a distinctive 3-seater layout. There is no front passenger seat and the rear seats are designed to look like a sofa.
Additionally, a rear-facing child seat can be fitted, where the front passenger seat would have traditionally been. Other features include folding roof that is covered with solar cells, which feed power to systems controlling on-board comfort functions as well as a touch-sensitive screen.
