Auto manufacturers sign memorandum of understanding on fuel cell vehicles

A group of auto manufacturers have signed a Letter of Understanding regarding the development and market launch of fuel cell cars. Companies the are part of the understanding include Daimler, Ford, General Motors/Opel, Renault, Nissan, Hyundai-Kia, Honda as well as Toyota. The companies involved expect to see a significant amount of fuel cell cars to be commercialized by 2015, and we are talking about a few hundred thousand units.
The companies involved are also calling for countries to establish hydrogen refueling infrastructures, to help accommodate more fuel cell cars. Compared to spending more time recharging a pure electric car, it is faster to refuel hydrogen, on fuel cell cars with electric motors, which is why some believe that fuel cell cars is still the way to go.
