All COE categories closed high, except for Category C

Four out of five COE categories closed higher after September’s first bidding exercise. More importantly, premiums for small cars (Category A, Cars 1,600cc and below, and taxis) made the biggest jump. A 20% hike brought the premiums up to S$18,020, making it the highest in four years. It is believed that the huge jump was due to the changes made to the off-peak car scheme (OPC).

Premiums for Category B (Cars 1,601cc and above) increased by 18.4% to settle at S$19,289, while premiums for Category C (Goods vehicles and buses) dropped by 8.6% to rest at S$16,001. COE premiums for motorbikes also made a huge increase, by 19% to be specific, that brought premiums up to the S$1,051 figure. Last but not least, Category E (Open category) ended also increased from S$17,905 to S$19,830.
