Rolls Royce Ghost officially revealed: Full Details!

BMW-owned and British-based luxury auto maker Rolls Royce has finally revealed the brand new Ghost model, which is more of an entry-level Rolls Royce that is more driver-focused. Almost 100% inspired by the Rolls Royce 200EX Concept that was shown at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Ghost is motivated by a 563HP (at 5,520 revs) 6.6 liter twin-turbo V12 powerplant that also makes a mouth watering 780Nm of torque, from as low as 1,500 revs. The powerhouse is paired with a ZF-sourced 8 speed automatic transmission. It can propel the new Rolls Royce to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and up to a top speed of 249 km/h (governed). All this while consuming 13.6 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (20.8 mpg) and releasing 317 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer.

The Ghost, measuring 5,399 mm long, 1948 mm wide, 1550 mm high and with a wheelbase of 3295 mm, features double-wishbone front suspension while the rear is treated to a multi-link setup. With these, it has four-cornered, air-suspension system and electronic variable damping that can detect even the smallest of changes and will compensate accordingly. For example, it will sense the movement of a single rear passenger from one side of the seat to the other and will change the settings accordingly.

There is a complex computer system that reads multiple inputs from sensors around the car; the dampers alone make individual load calculations every 2.5 milliseconds. This ensures not only perfect comfort but also a more precise steering feel for the driver. The air suspension system also incorporates a lift and kneel function, raising or lowering the Ghost by 25 mm.

Other features include Anti-Roll Stabilisation, Dynamic Brake Control and Dynamic Stability Control including Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Head-up Display, Night Vision (certain markets), Lane Departure Warning (certain markets), High Beam Assistance (certain markets) as well as Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go (certain markets). There is also Active Brake Intervention (certain markets) that allows hill descent at a constant speed.

Safety wise, it comes with side-impact beams in the front and rear doors with progressive rear crumple zones to absorb impacts and an Advanced Crash and Safety Management (ACSM) system that takes measurements 2,000 times per second from sensors located around the vehicle to judge which safety features to deploy in which areas in the event of an accident, apart from airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners. The auto maker revealed that a Ghost would spend seven days being painted and polished to perfection, as there are five stages in this segment including phosphate electro-coat application, application of primer, colour coat and finally two coats of clear lacquer.

The contrasting Silver Satin finish (shown in the images) for the bonnet, grille and windscreen surround is optional. A total of twelve body colour options are available, including Adriatic Blue, Claret, Darkest Tungsten, Dark Indigo, Diamond Black, English White, Ensign Red, Jubilee Silver, Lunar Blue, Metropolitan Blue, New Sable and Sea Green. Just like other modern Rolls Royce’s, it has an electronically retractable Spirit of Ecstasy logo upfront.

Apart from surrounding you with pure luxury thanks to its elegant craftsmanship and use of high-quality materials, the interior features frosted lamps and chrome door handles, traditional violin key switches and eyeball air vents, frosted white dials and refined instrumentation. Also included are deep-pile carpets (can be complemented with optional lambswool floor mats), Teflon-coated umbrellas integrated within the front doors, rear-hinged coach doors at the back, Panorama Sunroof (optional) which extends from the front into the rear compartment, four-zone automatic air conditioning and so on.

Furthermore, it features a 600-watt audio system with 10-channel amplifier and 16 speakers, including two floor-mounted subwoofers. Also included is a USB adapter and a 12.5 GB hard drive. Optionally, you can walk home with a Theatre Configuration that is made up by two 9.20-inch LCD screens in the back of the front seats and a 6-disc multi-media changer. Apart from a standard rear seating configuration, you can also select the individual lounge seating equipped with massage, heating, and cooling.

Leather colours are made up by Black, Consort Red, Creme light, Dark Spice, Fleet Blue, Moccasin, Pine Green and Seashell while there are five veneer options to choose from including Elm Cluster, Dark Wenge ,Malabar, Piano Black as well as Walnut Burr.
