Automobile Association of Singapore launches the TrafficGEM service

The Automobile Association of Singapore has recently launched the TrafficGEM service, which displays real-time traffic information obtained from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on a portable navigation device (with built-in SIM support). The system, thus far works only with the Mio Moov 380 device which goes for S$559.00
Via the system, motorists can plan their route, with information like the extent of a particular traffic jam, approximate traffic speed, accident spots and road works. Furthermore, it also provides lifestyle-related services, such as making restaurant reservations and so on. The TrafficGEM system will also support more services in the future. In six to twelve months’ time users should also be able to check Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and car park charges as well as check the availability of parking lots in shopping malls.
Also, V3 Teletech, developer of the system also revealed that it plans to add a social network function into the TrafficGEM system. Meaning, you can even see if a fellow TrafficGEM user is online and nearby or not, which is a neat feature. The association also revealed that AAS members can get Moov 380 device at a discounted price of S$489.00 at the COMEX fair happening on September 10th.
