Volvo officially reveals the new C70!

Hours after showing you some leaked photos of the facelifted Volvo C70, the Swedish auto maker has officially revealed the new convertible. On the outside, work has been carried out on the front fascia (inspired by the Volvo S60 Concept) with new headlights and decor around the fog lamps, on the front wings as well as on the rear end.
Here, the C70 features LED taillights (also found on the Volvo XC60), revised bumper and larger Volvo lettering on the boot lid (which is made of aluminum and steel). On the inside, the new C70 is treated to a redesigned instrument panel, apart from new upholstery, which are the only updates in this department.

Other features offered with the new C70 include, among others, metal hoops (Volvo’s Rollover Protection System – ROPS) that shoot up behind the rear seat passengers in the event of an accident (the hoops will shoot up through the glass if the roof is up – since it comes with a glass rear window), inflatable curtain (IC) which is installed in the door since there is no roof rail in which to fit it, side-impact airbags for the front seat occupants, as well as an electric-powered three-part steel foldable roof (takes about 30 seconds to open or shut). Volvo also revealed that the body’s torsional rigidity improves by about 15% when the roof is raised.
The new Volvo C70 will be offered with five engine options, including two diesel units. The petrol family is made up a 140HP 2.4 with 220Nm of torque (8.9 l/100 km, 212 g/km), a 170HP 2.4i with 230Nm of torque (9.0 l/100 km, 215 g/km) and a range topping 230HP T5 with 320Nm of torque (8.9 l/100 km, 209 g/km). Diesel engines include the 136HP 2.0D with 320Nm of torque (6.0 l/100 km, 158 g/km) and the 180HP D5 with 400Nm of torque (6.6 l/100 km, 174 g/km).
