Next generation Bentley Continental: More details revealed

More details have emerged regarding the next generation Bentley Continental, which is the Volkswagen-owned auto maker’s best selling vehicle. According Franz-Josef Pfaegen, Bentley’s boss, the next Continental will be a ‘refined’ version of the current one, as the auto maker knows that its customers don’t want too many changes.
Bentley will make the car lighter, and will most probably fit a modified version of the auto maker’s W12 powerplant, with more power, while having lower emissions and fuel consumption. Bentley will also stick with a conventional automatic transmission, instead of using a dual-clutch tranny.
Furthermore, the next Continental will feature a flex-fuel option, meaning it should be compatible with E85 bio-ethanol, just the like Continental Supersports. In the Supersports, the 6.0 liter W12 motivator can pump out 621HP and 800Nm of torque. It was also revealed that we can expect the new Continental to arrive sometime in 2011 and that the Speed version of the Continental Supersports should be revealed later this year.
