Gallardo-based hybrid expected to arrive in 2015

Lamborghini recently revealed its plans to develop a hybrid drive system, that will be used in future models. It also revealed that we can expect to see hybrid-powered Lamborghini’s by 2015. Their announcement came after Ferrari’s hybrid drivetrain plans were leaked onto the Internet.
Apparently, CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed to the Automobilwoche magazine that the Gallardo would be the first model to feature the new eco-friendly system, and that we will see it in about five years from now. The Gallardo Hybrid is expected to be powered by the auto maker’s V10 or V12 motivator, but at low speeds, the ‘greener’ Gallardo will only use the electric motor, meaning you can save on fuel and reduce emissions while driving in the city.
Power for the electric motor should be derived via a regenerative braking and deceleration system. The hybrid system will not act as a power booster, and Winkelmann reassured to the magazine that the Volkswagen-owned sports car maker will not role out pure electric models.
