Toyota adds two more engines into the Avensis line-up in the UK

Toyota has updated the Avensis line-up in the UK with two new engines, from both the diesel and petrol families. The petrol slot is made up by a 1.6 liter Valvematic engine, that is able to produce 132HP. This engine is paired with a 6 speed manual transmission. This engine is available for the T2 and TR models. The Avensis 1.6 liter is able to sprint the sedan to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds, and the tourer model to the same mark in 10.6 seconds.

The other engine is the 2.2-liter D-CAT turbo diesel powerplant, mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. This engine is able to crank out 150HP and 340Nm of torque. It can accelerate the sedan to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds, while in the tourer, it can do so in 9.8 seconds. The above mentioned petrol engine is able to deliver 100 kilometers with 6.5 liters of gasoline, while the diesel unit needs 6.4 liters to do so. The former carries a starting price of £16,485 while the latter starts from £21,515.
