Mercedes adds two more engines into the 2010 E-Class line up

Daimler-owned Mercedes Benz has announced that it will add two more powerplant options into the 2010 E-Class range, and that these new engines, from both the diesel and petrol groups will be available across Europe by September.

First up is the 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine featured in the E200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY that is capable of 136HP and 360Nm of torque. The powerplant sprints the sedan to 100km/h in 10.2 seconds, up to a top speed of 210km/h while delivering 100 kilometers with just 5.2 liters of diesel.

Joining the petrol family is the 1.8-liter turbocharged unit, under the hood of the E200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY. This motor can crank out 185HP with 270Nm of pulling power, and can accelerate the E200 to reach the 100km/h mark in 8.5 seconds, and will go on to top out at 232km/h. With the manual transmission, it sips 7.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. In Germany, the former is priced at €38,734.50 while the E200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY demands €39,508.
