I can’t believe how ridiculous malasian car manufacture are, how can they sit by and keep on producing shit cars and keep on charging ppl more than the heap of junk is worth.

I am a msian and i completely shrivelled at the shit the myvie and satria were taking on top gear. Its very embarrasing for the country and msian ppl, almost makes me embarresed to say that im a msian. Is that the aim of these companies like proton and perodua?? while they sit on their fat asses creaming off the top and distributing its ill gotten gains throughout the company and dare i say it government.
how issit possible for them to expect to make a profit by selling cars that are falling apart, when u can get more stylish and revolutionary technology for a cheaper price be it from the italians or the japanese?
these companies really need a serious overhaul if they want to be known as msian companies.
Another thing is the plight of the taxi drivers in msia. They’re the worst hit by this mockary of a car manufacturer. As the msian government has imposed that only msian cars can be used as taxi’s, but unfortunately these ppl who live close to the poverty line are subjected to this level of shoddy workmanship as they need to go into the workshop to get ridiculous things fixed due to low quality make which is not seen in a japanese counterpart.
shame on proton and perodua a major embrassment to msians

Responding to “Annoyed at Malaysian car makers”

Please note that the Myvi is a joint development by Toyota-Daihatsu-Perodua.

Perodua Myvi = Toyota Passo = Daihatsu Boon

They are all mechanically similar with minor design differences. The Myvi is now a “standard equipment” for many young and middle class Malaysians due to its good build quality, spacious cabin and affordability.

The Satria Neo has won accolades in Australia and is well recognised in UK. It is a very good effort by Proton and has been adapted to the World Rally Championship based on the S2000 rules. The chasis of the Neo is well designed and rigid providing good driving dynamics while maintaining comfort.

Don’t be influenced by the bombastic Jeremy Clarkson. What he does and says is purely for entertainment purposes. The cars reviewed are no where as bad as he says.

yeah well, and you thought building a car is like your mum making a cake? so shallow-minded and so foolish. why don’t you go build your own. at least these guys gave a shot. if it’s junk, then don’t buy it, simple as that, no need to elaborate

another stupid comment, you could be sued for that. are you so blind not to see, nissans, kias and a number of makes other than proton on the road turned into taxis?

Ok, i agree with the first commenter.
Its true, I own a myvi and its a junk!
Just the first few months and the ball bearing is a goner, I had to spend countless hours at the service center (sucks!). Then the ridiculous auto assist that came with the car is another joke, as I rang them when i was in need and the dude at the other end could not communicate proper english! (I am nt malaysian)
Also for 50K plus, you get:
1) a car that struggles to keep on motorway speeds
2) really rotten quality
3) doors that close like my fridge (not a solid thud)
4) a lame and same interior

The only reason i had to buy this car, was because in Malaysia car prices are insane! So i had no choice and proton was out of the question.
even the hyundai getz looks and feels much much better!
Conclusion, i am nt going down on another malaysian made car anymore, i am sorry if i am being harsh bt i just have to say it!

Sorry to say that I cant agree with the previous comment. I too own a myvi and a neo and I have to say for the price that I have to pay, the cars are reasonably well made. To say either of the cars as a junk is totally unacceptable. I have driven nissan and toyotas which do suffer from problems even at brand new condition. This cannot be avoided as there is always a chance for a device to fail and it’s unavoidable. Try to work as a maintenance crew in heavy machineries where million buck of equipments from well known manufacturers do suffer serious problems then you know what i mean ;) . Finally if you dont like it still, please do sell it off and get urself lrt to work. Atleast someone could get it as a bargain 2nd hand car.
