BMW’s 5-Series Gran Turismo officially revealed: Full Details!

As expected, BMW has officially unveiled its latest product, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo! After the release of some leaked images of the Gran Turismo, we now have high-res images, more details as well as a 2 minute 16 second-long video. With its two mode tail gate that enables the GT to offer up to 1,700 liters of capacity, the Gran Turismo comes with three powerplant options powering three models.
First up is the BMW 535i Gran Turismo that receives its power from 3.0 liter straight-6 gasoline engine with TwinPower Turbo, High Precision Injection and VALVETRONIC that is able to produce 306HP at 5,800 revs and 400Nm of torque, available between 1,200 revs and 5,200 revs. It can accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds, to a top speed of 250 km/h. It does this while delivering 100 kilometers with 8.9 liters of fuel (Average fuel consumption to the EU standard) and while emitting 209 grams of emissions per kilometer.

Next up is the range topping BMW 550i Gran Turismo which is motivated by a 4.4 liter V8 with TwinPower Turbo and High Precision Injection. It pumps out a cool 407HP between 5,500 revs and 6,400 revs and cranks out a 600Nm of pulling power between 1,750 revs and 4,500 revs. This quicker model hits the sweet spot in just 5.5 seconds, and goes on to a similar top speed of 250 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at 11.2 liter per 100 kilometers (Average fuel consumption to the EU standard). It releases 263 grams of emissions per kilometer.
A final diesel version makes up the line up. Called the BMW 530d Gran Turismo, it comes with a 3.0 straight-6 iesel engine with aluminium crankcase and third-generation common-rail direct fuel injection (piezo-injectors) which enables the engine to produce 245HP at 4,000 revs and a respectable 540Nm of torque between 1,750 revs and 3,000 revs. It hits 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and delivers a slightly lower top speed of 240 km/h. Most importantly, it consumes only 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers travelled (Average fuel consumption to the EU standard) while outputting 173 grams of emissions per kilometer.

With a legroom of a 7 Series and headroom of an X5, the Gran Turismo comes with BMW’s 8-speed automatic tranny, as standard. Prior to this, the transmission is only available with the BMW 760i. Suspension wise, the Gran Turismo features double track control arm front axle and Integral-V rear axle (with air suspension as standard) exclusive to BMW that are made largely of aluminium. Also as standard is the Dynamic Drive Control that optimizes gearshifts, gas pedal and steering assistance mapping as well, via four modes including NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT+ and COMFORT. Potential buyers can opt for the Adaptive Drive, which adjusts the dampers based on driving conditions.
The Gran Turismo comes with, among others, the latest generation iDrive with a 10.2 inch display screen, Black Panel instrument display, automatic air conditioning and AUX-in. Other optional features are mostly made up by, BMW ConnectedDrive, Cruise Control with Stop & Go, High-Beam Assistant, Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info, BMW Night Vision with detection of individual persons, Side View, Top View, and a back-up camera.
