BMW rumored feature turbocharged 3-Cylinder and 4-Cylinder engines in the next BMW 1 Series and 3 Series?

According to Sky Motoring, German-based premium auto maker will introduce smaller, 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder powerplants with the next generation BMW 1 Series and 3 Series models. Apparently, there will be three 3-Cylinder Turbos with a 1.35 liter displacement. There will also be two 4-Cylinder Turbos with a 1.8 liter displacement. These engine will also be fitted in the base line BMW 5 Series, BMW X3 and BMW X1 models.
The 1.35 liter would be able to output between 163HP with 190Nm of torque and 241HP with 260Nm of torque, while the 1.8 liter should be able pump out anywhere between 273HP and 321HP. These new cleaner and more efficient engines would be offered by 2011, if there is any truth behind the rumor in the first place.
