Citroen may launch the DS5 Hybrid in 2011

Words are being exchanged that Citroen may introduce its first ever hybrid vehicle, called the DS5 by 2011. The DS5 is expected to feature a diesel powerplant that would be mated to a rear-mounted electric motor, and both systems can produce up to 200HP.

The possibly all-wheel-drive vehicle is rumored to be based on the Citroen C-SportLounge Concept (pictured above) which was previewed at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show. Since it is expected to carry the DS designation, the hybrid would be positioned as a premium vehicle.
