America’s USGPE Formula 1 Team considering Cosworth powerplants
American-based USGPE (United States Grand Prix Engineering) Formula 1 which is aiming to make an entry into the 2010 Formula 1 World Championships has revealed that it is considering to get Cosworth on board as its engine supplier. Cosworth, which is now owned by an American; Kevin Kalkhoven has not been involved in the pinnacle of motorsports since 2006, when both Williams and Toro Rosso moved on to another engine supplier.
Peter Windsor, the Sporting Director of the newly formed team (officially launched February 24th this year) mentioned to Autosport that having Cosworth on board seems as a very attractive option for the team especially the fact that it is now owned by an American.
The USGPE, which was first known as the US F1 is the latest outfit expected to join the Formula 1 circus and has named North Carolina, America as its home base, near to the Windshear wind tunnel facility. The team, apart from Windsor who is also a motoring journalist, has Ken Anderson as its Team Principal.
