Tokyo Motor Show on the rocks

First the British Motor Show, now the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show is starting to feel the pinch of the economic climate. The motor shows turn-out was in question recently but all the Japanese manufacturers are sticking to it and will be featuring their respective cars at the show.

This comes after news that Volvo will be pulling out of Tokyo, currently owned by Ford. According to World Car Fans, the big American three stated that they won’t be participating, the three being GM, Chrysler and Ford.

Another revealing find, is that the German powerhouses are also getting a bit hesitant with participation in the Tokyo Motor Show. Seen as a cost cutting measure, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and VW along with supplier Robert Bosch will be waiting for each other to first announce their pullout, as it seems to be bad press to be the first to announce a cancelation according to Automobilwoche.
