Speculation: BMW Z2 to hit the market in 2011?
As reported earlier, BMW plans to add another roadster, this time positioned below the BMW Z4, into its vehicle line up. Designated as the BMW Z2, this potential rival to Mazda’s MX5 / Miata may hit showrooms sometime in 2011. According to Auto Motor und Sport, the Z2 should be based on the Z4′s platform but will feature smaller displacement engines including a 150HP 4 cylinder option.
Potential buyers can also expect a range topping 300HP model with a twin turbo power plant. Apparently BMW also plans to produce a fully electric version carrying the eDrive designation based on the Z2. Anyway, expect a BMW Z Vision Concept sometime towards end of this year which will showcase the design language of the upcoming Z2.
