New Vauxhall Astra – Spy Shots!

These are newest spy shots of the Vauxhall/Opel Astra being tested out in Germany. The car which is expected to go on sale at the end of this year is said to take key elements from the new Insignia such as the interior. GM’s Delta platform is said to be employed in the body of this car, similar to that of the Chevrolet Cruze and will be a norm in other GM brands such as the Volt and Vauxhall Ampera.
The chassis is said to be brand new and is not just a rework of a previous model, thus it should offer good handling characteristics. MacPherson struts are to be used in the front and a torsion beam at the rear. What is visible is the Astra’s shoulder line, front and rear lights which look classy and seem to project a hint of luxury. Vauxhall’s factory in Elsmere Port (UK) is said to have machines set up for the assembly of the new Astra.
