New 2010 Lexus RX350 to be launched in Singapore on February 13th!

The new 2010 Lexus RX350 will be launched on the 13th of February in Singapore and local dealer for both the Lexus and Toyota brands; Borneo Motors will most likely offer the all wheel drive variant here, instead of the front wheel drive version. The new version measures 4770 mm in length, which is longer by 30 mm over the previous model which also increases the wheelbase by 20 mm to 2740 mm. It stands a little taller as well as, by 50 mm, with a total height of 1725 mm. The new RX350 weighs 1975 kg, instead of 1860 kg.

The RX350 which has a ground clearance of 7.3 inches has received a substantial make over on the outside. The front fascia now features head lights that point downward and a new front bumper. Especially with those new new head lights, the front definitely look refreshed over the previous RX350.

The side profile also features a slightly curvaceous shoulder line on each side while the rear also receives newly designed tail lights with LED and rear bumper. The rear looks just as good as the front, and the fact that the roof line slopes downward slightly towards the end further adds to the overall good looks of the new RX350. LED technology is also used on the turn signals which are integrated into the side mirrors.

On the inside, it has been heavily redesigned and refined with a centre console that is connected to the dashboard, instead of a separate centre console. Lexus has also utilized genuine walnut wood on the interior trim panels including on all doors, console and switch plates. Both front seats can also be adjusted 10-way via electric power while the rear seats can folded down via a 40/20/40 split.

The 5 seater luxury SUV which also comes with key-less entry as standard, is powered by a DOHC 24-valve 3.5 liter V6 with VVT-i and Sequantial Multi Port Fuel Injection which is able to pump out 275HP and 346Nm of torque and this time round, the engine is mated to a 6 speed multi-mode automatic transmission.

This enables the SUV to sprint to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds to a governed top speed of 112 mph. Also, another new feature for the 2010 RX350 is the all wheel drive system with Active Torque Control which allows torque to be distributed between the front and rear wheels depending on driving conditions.

Suspension wise, the RX350 comes with MacPherson struts up front and a double wishbone setup at the back. In terms of pricing, the RX350 with AWD carries a price tag of S$ 165,000 while the RX350 with a moon roof goes for S$ 169,000. Both prices are inclusive of COE.

Other key features which are available on the new RX350 include; ABS, electric power steering, automatic dual zone air conditioning system, dust and pollen particle and deodorizing interior air filter, 6 disc CD changer with nine speakers and a USB port, and Vehicle Stability Control with Traction Control.

Also expect the hybrid variant, designated as the RX450h to join the local market a couple of months later. The RX450h on the other hand features 295HP in total, including power produced by the electric motors as well as the 3.5 liter V6.
