New luxury crossover by Lincoln – The 2010 Lincoln MKT!

Based on the same D4 platform which is utilized on the Ford Flex, the new 2010 Lincoln MKT with three row seating arrangement was launched at the Detroit Auto Show, along side the new Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKZ.

The Lincoln MKT which is marketed as a full size luxury crossover offers a choice of two V6 engines including a 268HP with 267 lb.-ft. of torque 3.7 liter Duratec engine with a two-speed fuel pump and Aggressive Deceleration Fuel Shut-Off (ADFSO), and a 3.5 liter twin turbo EcoBoost with direct injection which is good for 355HP and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both power plants are mated to a 6 speed SelectShift automatic transmission which can be operated via manual or fully automatic controls. A set of paddle shifters equipped with a “matched-rev” downshift feature is also mounted at the back of the steering wheel.

Other key technologies offered as standard in the MKT include; Active Park Assist which provides automatic parallel parking (driver only needs to perform throttle and braking inputs), Auto High Beams coupled with Adaptive Headlamps, Reverse Camera System, Collision Warning with Brake Support, and the Lincoln SYNC which is a voice over communications system developed by Ford and Microsoft.

Other optional accessories include Rain-Sensing Wipers, a Blind Spot Information System and a touch screen Navigation package, among others. The 6/7-seater MKT with a 60/40 split folding rear bench seat also can be purchased with an AWD system which is standard for the 3.5 liter variant. With a 24 mpg highway consumption figure (for the 3.7 liter model), the new 2010 Lincoln MKT will hit American showrooms in late summer.
