Kimi Raikkonen will not race in 2010

Former Ferrari driver and World Champion Kimi Raikkonen will not race in 2010 as negotiations with McLaren has apparently come to an end. According to his manager Steve Robertson, Raikkonen only wants to drive for a team that can fight for the World Championship. “The option in Formula One was to be at McLaren or nothing. Kimi and McLaren were unable to come to an agreement, so he will not drive in Formula One, at least not in 2010,” said Robertson when talking to Turun Sanomat, a Finnish newspaper.

Furthermore Raikkonen is expected to earn more money by not racing next year as his former team will pay him the remaining of his 2010 salary, since the contract came to an end prematurely to allow double World Champion Fernando Alonso to join the team. Since Raikkonen will not race for McLaren next year, it is more likely that Jenson Button will partner Lewis Hamilton, making it an all-British line-up in a British-based team.
