Renault Fluence EV to go into production in 2011 in Turkey

Renault has announced that the electric version of the Fluence midsize sedan will be produced at the automaker’s Bursa plant in Turkey and that production will start in the first half of 2011. The electric version will be produced on the same production line as the conventional fuel-powered Fluence. The automaker claimed that producing the Fluence EV at the Bursa plant will enable it to market the electric car at the same price as the combustion models.

Buyers will have three battery options to choose from including standard, rapid and “QuickDrop” battery exchange. The Renault EV will be launched in Isreal and Denmark first, and followed by other countries. The automaker also revealed in the press release that a city car inspired by the Zoe Z.E Concept and the electric Kangoo will be manufactured in France while a vehicle based on the Twizy Z.E Concept will be produced in Spain. These electric cars will be made available to the mass market starting from 2011.
