Volvo releases official images of the next S60

In a somewhat unexpected move, Volvo has just released two images of the production S60 months ahead of its debut at next year’s Geneva Motor Show happening in March. The release of the images is probably due to some previous spy images that revealed the entire car, leaving almost nothing to the imagination.

The automaker also confirmed that the new S60 will feature Pedestrian Detection which can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time. The Volvo S60 is expected to go into production in early summer 2010 at the automaker’s plant in Ghent, Belgium.

I just hope that the new S60 will drive as good as it looks. Nothing is known regarding the engine, but a 1.6 liter GDTi direct-injected turbo powerplant paired with a twin-clutch cog box should be on the list. Look for high-res images after the jump.
