Lotus to make motorsport return: Studying options of joining Indycar, GT and Le Mans

Dany Bahar, former Ferrari man and recently-appointed CEO of Lotus revealed that the company intends to get itself back into motorsport. “Lotus will return to motorsport. I believe that this is the perfect platform to showcase our capabilities; racing is part of our heritage and even today the technology in our road cars is derived from racing,” revealed Bahar when addressing his employees.

Bahar also revealed that the sports car maker is studying options of participating in motorsport events like Indycar, GT and Le Mans. The company will also participate in Formula 1, but only by allowing the team to use the company’s brand. Bahar confirmed that Lotus has no equity in the Malaysian-owned Lotus F1 team that will be part of next year’s Formula 1 grid. The boss also announced that the company’s future vehicle line-up plans as well as plans for the next seven years will be revealed in December.
