Jenson Button’s contract with Brawn is up for renewal, earned only £3 million this year

Newly crowned World Champion Jenson Button has yet to secure a seat for next season. The Brit is currently negotiating with Brawn GP for a contract renewal. The Brackley-based team was only able to offer Button £3 million for this season, which marked a £5 million drop from last season’s £8 million when Honda was his employer.
Button is most likely expecting a pay hike since the team has excess to more funds following link-ups with various sponsors and the fact that he is now a World Champion carries value as well. The team’s chief executive Nick Fry told BBC, “We’ve got to do a bit of negotiation but we want him to stay, and I know he wants to stay with the team. I wouldn’t like to say how far apart we are in money terms, but it’s a bridge that can be crossed.”

Great Result and brilliant for British Motorsport in general. I appreciate the fact that Jenson funded his own flights to and from the races and was only given a private jet (ironically Rubens’) after Brazil in order to come back to England and celebrate with the team.http://bit.ly/1WmpXt I hope they get the contract extension signed pronto…
