Ariel Atom: Now in Singapore!

The record breaking, face distorting Ariel Atom is now available in Singapore. Local motor sport company; Atomic Racing has been appointed as the first dealer to market and sell the roof-less British made sports car in Singapore as well as in Malaysia.
Two versions of the hand built cars will be offered here; a road legal variant costing S$ 288,000 and a track-only variant costing S$ 170,000. Atomic Racing which is expected to bring in 10 units next year can now receive orders from potential buyers and can expect deliveries by April 2009. All cars will be built in the UK.
Each Atom can deliver astonishing performance figures which includes 300HP and 240Nm of torque. Since the Atom is based on a lightweight 510 kg construction, power-to-weight ratio is at 600HP / tonne which enables the car to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in sub 3 seconds.
The 300HP power plant is derived from the Honda Civic Type-R’s 1998cc VTEC engine, but supercharged for the Atom. Power is delivered to the wheels via a 6 speed close ratio manual tranny and a Quaife limited slip differential. A quick ratio steering system, Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs help provide no-nonsense handling.
Apart from a Simpson racing helmet, each customer will be treated to a total of four mandatory training sessions on how to control the beast at no extra cost, since the Atom comes with no electronic driving aids what so ever.
Director of Atomic Racing; Alvin Wong further commented that the company will also offer other motor sport based services such as advance driving sessions and racing events, as well as engineering support services. Atomic Racing also has plans to bring in and market other brands such as Brian James Racing Trailers, Simpson Racing Gear and even Caterham; a British sports car which is based on the Lotus 7.
