BMW M Cars: Over 50% Sales Growth!

Looks like it will take more than a worldwide economic downturn to shake sales performance of BMW’s in-house tuning division; BMW M GmbH. The 30 year old tuner reported a worldwide sales increase of slightly over 50% for its M-performance cars over last year’s mark in November. To be exact, a total of 22,340 M cars have been sold so far from November 2007, compared to 14,092 units achieved the same time last year and in this month alone, the M division delivered about 1,900 cars!

BMW M GmbH further commented that apart from the “unique driving experience” offered by the M cars, the significant increase in sales is also due to the introduction of the new BMW M3, which this time round is offered in three body styles since spring 2008; M3 Coupe, M3 Convertible and M3 Sedan. The M3 sports car which is now powered by a V8 instead of an inline 6 power plant, sold almost twice as well in its first year of production than its predecessor model within the same period.

On top of that, performance figures of the new M3 with 420 hp and 400 Nm of torque rivals other, more expensive sports cars, which gives an M3 buyer better value for money. This year, a total of seven M models are available, which include the three M3 variants, the M5 Sedan, and the M6 Coupe’ as well as its top-less variant; the M6 Convertible.
